পথর পচল, written by the renowned literary figure Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, is a famous novel set in rural Bengal. The story revolves around two siblings, Apu and Durga, and their journey through life in the village. This edition of the novel, titled "Am Amtir Bhepu" (The Call of the Mango Blossom), is specifically curated for young readers. In the future, the novel was adapted into the internationally acclaimed Bengali film series, "Pather Panchali," directed by Satyajit Ray.
The novel is divided into three parts, consisting of a total of thirty-five chapters. The three parts are respectively named "Bollali Balai" (Chapters 1-6; depicting the description of Bollali's house), "Am Amtir Bhepu" (Chapters 7-29; portraying the growth of Apu and Durga, their playful childhood, Durga's untimely death, and Apu's journey to Kashi), and "Okkur Songbad" (Chapters 30-35; narrating Apu's life in Kashi, the death of Harihara, Apu's sacrifice for the greater good, and his eventual return to Nishchindipur).
